The lost city is located in the middle of La Sierra Navada and close to the Buritaca river, it was founded in the VIII Century by the Teyunas. For this indigenous tribe, this place is considered as the world’s heart.
Now a days the Wiwa, Kogui, Kanhuamos and Arhuacos are the indigenous tribes encharged to protect this archeological place and every September for 15 days, they don’t allow the entrance to any tourist to make their pagamentos ritual for cleaning up the negative energies of their territory and been grateful with the Mother Earth.
The only way to reach this sacred place is by walking for 4 or 5 days around la Sierra with an indigenpus guide that will tell you all about their myths, their beliefs and their culture.
The final trail for the Lost City, is where you find the 1,200 stone steps that will take you the one of the 169 terraces that compose this ancient place and by the location and characteristics of this land, people think it used to be an important economical center for the Teyunas centuries ago.
It’s an incredible trail to connect with the culture of this sacred place and with the surrounded nature of La Sierra.
